DYNASTS OF LYCIA. Kherei, circa 440/30-410 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 8.61 g, 6 h), Pinara. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette; behind neck, uncertain symbol. Rev. πŠœπŠπŠ•πŠšπŠ† - [πŠ“πŠ†πŠπŠπŠπŠ‡πŠ†] ('xereni pillewi' in Lycian) Bearded head of Kherei to right, wearing Persian Kyrbasia; all within round incuse. MΓΈrkholm-Zahle 45. MΓΌseler VI, 50-51 (same obverse die). SNG von Aulock -. Rare. A beautifully toned example with an exceptionally attractive obverse. The usual tiny die break on the obverse and the reverse struck very slightly off center, otherwise, about extremely fine.
